With a commitment to revitalizing aquatic ecosystems, we’ve orchestrated a remarkable transformation at the Thompson State Fish Hatchery’s coldwater and coolwater facilities. Our enhancements enveloped the coldwater facility, witnessing the dawn of new indoor rearing vessel coatings, a cutting-edge automated feeding system, and a robust emergency generator. Meanwhile, the coolwater realm witnessed the birth of a new 2,000-square-foot incubation haven, nestled on state-owned land just a short distance away. This innovative building incubates up to 60,000,000 Walleye eggs, serving as both a nurturing cradle and a sanctuary for quarantined fish.
In our commitment to creating an optimal aquatic environment, the upgrade unfurled new one-acre and half-acre-lined ponds, a solar pond for tempered water, and state-of-the-art subsurface aeration. These dynamic water bodies, meticulously lined and equipped, ensure the ideal haven for fish development. Predator exclusion netting and strategic harvest structures complete the transformation, providing both safety and flexibility for a flourishing aquatic habitat.
