The Howell Public Schools 2019 Bond improved a number of different functions within the district’s 12 facilities:
Safety and Security: Reconfigure main entrances so visitors must pass by the school office and be screened before entry; Install secure locks with staff-only keycard access on all interior doors; Install a one-button lockdown system to secure schools in emergency situations; Add state-of-the-art cameras and systems to monitor entrances and other strategic locations; Add driveway barriers and new walkway paths to improve traffic flow and increase pedestrian safety.
Athletics and Arts: Install new auditorium seating and audiovisual systems in our Performing Arts Center; Add a new strength and cardio training center at Fieldhouse to make workouts safer; Add bleachers, restrooms and paved parking at baseball/softball fields to make it easier to get to the field and make them handicap accessible; Install new audio and lighting systems at Howell High Stadium; Resurface track.
21st Century Classrooms: Create modern STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) classrooms with the latest learning technologies; Install new, student-friendly flexible seating to meet current and future learning trends; Equip design and fabrication labs to enable students to develop real-world technical job skills.
Facility and Site Updates: Replace outdated heating and cooling units with energy-efficient systems; Install new flooring to replace worn carpet; Replace aging roofs in 7 of 12 buildings; Fix cracked, broken driveways, sidewalks, loading docks, and parking lot.
