Previous evaluation and assessment of existing K-5 facilities determined that demolition, major renovations and the construction of (5) new elementary schools are necessary to accommodate the needs of the growing district. With this, Clark Construction partnered with East Lansing Public Schools to assist with the following projects:
Red Cedar Elementary Building and Site: Major renovation includes construction of new canopy, vestibule and secured entry. Replacement of all mechanical and electrical systems. Exterior building envelope upgrades include new brick, insulation, metal panels and new windows. Interior flooring and sound-absorbing panels will be installed. Major site upgrades include parking lots, parent drop off and bus loop.
New construction of 5 New Elementary Schools: The new 50,800 s.f. Donley, Glencairn, Marble, Pinecrest and Whitehills elementary schools will each feature Geothermal systems for heating and cooling. Sitework will include new parking lots, playgrounds and drainage.
Lastly, foundations and classrooms walls were constructed at Donley Elementary School. Drilling for a geothermal heating and cooling system also took place at Glencairn Elementary School.
